Impermanent loss calculator

Enter the entry price, the current or scenario price and the pool range. The calculator shows what the position is worth in the pool versus what it would be worth if you had just held the tokens.

LPulse reads your positions from the wallet address and shows range, fees earned and impermanent loss for Uniswap, Orca and Raydium positions, with an alert before price leaves the range.

How we calculate it

In a full-range pool (Uniswap v2 and similar), the loss depends only on the price ratio r between entry and now: IL = 2·√r / (1 + r) − 1. A 2× move up or down costs about 5.7%; a 4× move, 20%.

In a concentrated pool (Uniswap v3, Orca Whirlpools, Raydium CLMM), all liquidity sits inside the chosen range. We compute each token amount with the Uniswap v3 liquidity formula at the entry price and at the final price. Narrow ranges earn more fees, but impermanent loss grows in the same proportion.

When the price leaves the range, the position becomes 100% one token and stops earning fees until the price comes back.

What the calculator leaves out

Fees and incentives earned, which offset part or all of the loss. To estimate both together, use the liquidity pool simulator.

Gas, entry slippage and rebalancing costs. The result is an estimate, not investment advice.

Frequently asked questions

+What is impermanent loss?

It is the gap between the value of your liquidity position and what you would have if you had simply held the same tokens. It happens because the pool sells the token that rises and buys the one that falls to stay balanced.

+Why is it called impermanent?

If the price returns to the entry level, the loss disappears. It becomes permanent when you withdraw while the price differs from your entry.

+Do concentrated pools have more impermanent loss?

Yes. Concentrating liquidity in a narrow range multiplies fees and, to the same degree, the loss when price moves within the range.

+Do stablecoin pools have impermanent loss?

Almost none, as long as both coins hold their peg. The real risk there is one of them depegging.

+Do fees make up for impermanent loss?

It depends on pool volume, your range and time in range. The LPulse pool simulator combines fees, incentives and IL in one scenario.
